Design of mmwave 24GHz Phase-locked Loop in a 180 nm SiGe BiCMOs process

The 24GHz Phase/Frequency-Locked Loop (PLL) is a crucial component in modern communication systems, especially in the field of wireless technology. This PLL plays a vital role in maintaining synchronization and stability in the frequency and phase of the transmitted signals. Its primary application is found in radar systems, automotive radar sensors, and wireless communication systems operating in the 24GHz frequency band. 

The main components of the 24GHz PLL include a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a phase-frequency detector (PFD), a charge pump, and a loop filter. The VCO generates the output frequency, which is controlled by the PFD and charge pump based on the phase and frequency comparison with the reference signal. The loop filter ensures a smooth and stable control voltage for the VCO, contributing to the overall precision and reliability of the 24GHz PLL in various high-frequency applications.

Our group has conducted scientific studies and circuit design for each module of the 24GHz PLL, aiming to construct an entire 24GHz PLL chain.
