Mars surface exploration poses unique challenges, including the psychological strain of loneliness and boredom. Therefore, astronauts demand an entertainment system to provide companionship and relaxation in space.

The Mars Exploration Entertainment system comprises two interconnected components: a mechanical dog and a music video game. The design incorporates four servo motors in the mechanical dog to enable dynamic movements including walking, shaking hands, and turning around. Additionally, the dog features an OLED screen for displaying various facial expressions and an MP3 module to produce sound. The music video game, developed using TouchDesigner, analyzes the tones and rhythms of music to generate corresponding visual blocks on the screen. Two ultrasonic sensors installed in the game setup detect the player’s interactions by verifying hits on the blocks at the designated judgment line. The system dynamically displays scores in real time and, upon achieving a specific score threshold, signals the mechanical dog to perform a celebratory motion sequence.
